In the past 5 years I have done a limited number of outdoor sessions. I have let fear hold me back and keep me indoors. Then every so often I would say yes to an outdoor session and it would remind me why I love them. But then I wouldn't do anymore for a while and I started to feel stuck. I started doing sessions just to keep the doors open and found myself not loving the results when I would pick up the camera. My spark had disappeared.
Then business began to slow to a point I had to close the studio. Though the doors are locked the business continues and I stepped away for a moment to find me again.
To find my love for creating beautiful pieces of art and capturing truly priceless moments for families. You know the ones you want to display around your home or look back on in the years to come and remember.
Yeah you know the ones I am talking about. Those moments and the creativity that shows the world how I see you and your family. The love, the connection, the silliness, laughter, and smiles.
Yes I throw in classic posing but we have fun in the process. This is me, this is what I am meant to capture. This beautiful family was brave and met me in a field of wild flowers to capture a once in a lifetime moment. The celebration of their little girl that they are anxiously awaiting.
With the closing of the studio I am reminded of why I love these moments. The studio was nice but it didn't let me be free to be creative. I fell into doing photos that I wasn't excited to show the world.
Then yesterday I did my first session outdoors since closing the studio and it reignited a spark I had lost. Now I am ready to see what the future holds and capture even more beautiful moments for people who want to let me share what I see.
